Rush limbo show9/2/2023 ![]() Wanniski was depressed and confused he felt that his work was being blocked. He said my economic theory was so innovative, so radical, that there was no reason to have it carry the extra burden of the political model. I took the Mundell-Laffer model and grafted it onto my political model. ‘He wanted to talk me out of my first few chapters, which were about my political model. ‘Irving caused me difficulty,’ said Wanniski. “During Wanniski’s sojourn at he was joined by Kristol. In a chapter of Sidney Blumenthal’s The Rise Of The Counter-Establishment this appears: The Republican Party has reached a stage of dissatisfaction where it may win in spite of Rush more than because of him. It has a bearing on why it is so difficult for Republicans to adapt to the changing demographics of America – a hurdle that I see them correcting in the 2016 election, whether Limbaugh relinquishes his attachment to LVI or not. I found that among the supply-side community that Jude helped to sire, the acceptance and rejection of this peculiar aspect of human and societal nature usually took place with a mystical or metaphysical aura.īut it was not until I came across a book written in 1986 that I became more familiar with a possibly less ethereal cause as to why Jude’s embrace of popular opinion became so antithetical to conservative orthodoxy. While the ‘what’ of this is simple grasp - the how and why this is the case is a struggle for most of us to accept. The idea is not that dissimilar to that found in the statistical probability that underpins the art and science of political polling – if you ask enough people the right question in the right way, you can usually arrive at a right answer or at least a better one than any one person can provide. ![]() Over the years in which I enjoyed a warm friendship with Jude no factor perplexed me more than what I considered the rejection of one-third of his philosophy – the idea that that masses of individuals, regardless of their creed, class or color were generally speaking, wiser than any particular leader on any particular question. Limbaugh gravitated toward to eventually emerge as its greatest high priest. But I see the embrace of it as the full germination of a seed that was planted within modern conservative ideology over 30 years ago when a significant portion of Jude Wanniski’s philosophical model was omitted from the formulation of the conservative worldview that Mr. Some may dismiss Rush on LIV as a tangential rant or a temporary tangent from last generation’s most influential (and entertaining) voice in political discourse. The causes for the ignorance or ‘stupidity’ as Rush often describes it abound -with anything from inattentiveness, mis-education, or ideology to blame. ![]() So yeah, I'd say the first step is for the FCC to tighten down the media ownership caps and force the media conglomerates to sell their TV stations, cable channels, radio stations and newspapers, and not to each other.“a play dealing with tragic events…concerning the downfall of the main character.”įor a year now Rush Limbaugh has been amplifying an interpolation of one of the most controversial tenets of political science and campaign strategy - the low information voter (LIV) theory - the concept, some say insight, that a segment of the electorate approaches elections without adequate information to make a proper decision. There will be room for more voices on the air. The conservative stations that are on the air, but in different hands rather than all owned by Clear Channel, will eat each other, because in a fair market, economic forces will dictate that there be one station airing Rush Limbaugh, rather than six - easier to get lots of listeners that way. ![]() They won't be able to force progressive radio stations off the air in favor of conservative stations with a fraction of the listeners. Force them to sell, move some of the stations into the hands of smaller businesses, and all of the sudden, you'll find that everyone will be forced to make sure that their stations earn their keep. ![]() Notice how in any given area, you can tune into three or four, sometimes more stations with the same Rush Limbaugh show on every day? Do you really think that in a fair and competitive environment where monopolies were shut down, that four radio stations could air the same show at the same time, splitting the listeners, and stay in business? That can happen because Clear Channel and similar corporations own most of the radio dial. That will help in the goal: Tear most of the TV stations away from the big conglomerates. One thing that's promising: Clear Channel is on the ropes, thanks to the Bush Depression. ![]()
